Then they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that imagined evil against us, so that we are destroyed from remaining in any coast of Israel,

Let seven men of his [a]sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up [b]unto the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, the Lord’s chosen, And the king said, I will give them.

But the king had compassion on Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the (A)Lord’s oath, that was between them, even between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
